The grand opening of 7-Eleven Vang Vieng City branch: Boosting the local economy and attracting tourists, supporting Laos’ 2024 tourism year policy.

On September 10, 2024, Dr.Syviengxay Oraboune, Chief of Vientiane Provincial Administration Bureau, presided over the official opening ceremony of the 7-Eleven branch in Vang Vieng City, located in Ban Savang, Vang Vieng District, Vientiane Province. This is the 8th branch in the Lao PDR and another newly opened store outside the province. Previously, CP All Laos Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CP All, had already opened 7-Eleven stores in Vientiane Capital, Champasak Province, and Savannakhet Province. Notably, this store is managed by Lao business partners, in line with the company’s aim for 7-Eleven in Lao PDR to be owned by Lao people, contributing to the nation’s pride.

Ms. Thoungkhaisone Khammang, the business manager of the 7-Eleven Vang Vieng City branch, stated that 7-Eleven is a popular convenience store, with Lao people frequently traveling to Nong Khai and Udon Thani for weekend shopping, reflecting their preference for 7-Eleven products. The business has grown successfully in Thailand and has become a part of the tourism sector. This aligns with Vang Vieng, which is also a key tourist destination in the Lao PDR. The opening of 7-Eleven in Vang Vieng not only provides convenience for tourists visiting Laos but also offers Lao people access to quality products and services. Additionally, it creates jobs for locals, reducing the need for them to seek employment in other provinces or abroad. It also offers opportunities for personal development through service training provided by CP All Laos, ensuring that employees meet the required standards. This will be a strength for the tourism and service sectors during the Visit Laos Year 2024, in line with government policy aimed at boosting the economy through tourism. The number of tourists entering the Lao PDR has noticeably increased since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Vang Vieng not only has strong natural and historical attractions but also benefits from being on the Lao-China railway route, which makes transportation more convenient.
