
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce, in collaboration with CP ALL Laos, is elevating high-potential local products to international standards to increase market opportunities for 7-Eleven distribution branches and international markets.
On September 2, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce held a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony for cooperation in implementing the Lao Products to International Standards Project between the Department of Medium and Small Enterprise Promotion (DMSME), led by Mrs. Manyvone Vongsai, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, led by Mr. Santisouk Phounsavath, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, and CP All Laos Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CP All (Public) Company Limited, represented by Mr. Thatree Jirabanjongjit, Managing Director.
The Lao Product Project aims to elevate the quality and standards of outstanding and potential Lao products to international standards, enabling widespread distribution in both domestic and international markets, especially through the 7-Eleven convenience store network, a globally renowned convenience store chain. On one hand, this will create jobs, careers, and supplementary income for entrepreneurs and producers in the country, leading to an improved quality of life for the Lao people, as well as building a good reputation for local products in the Lao PDR.
Mrs. Manyvone Vongsai, Director of the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion (DMP), stated that DMP is an agency responsible for developing micro, small and medium enterprises, promoting entrepreneurs and startups, increasing productivity and quality, developing products, handicrafts, and promoting access to funding sources. The Lao Products to International Standards project is a collaboration between the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, with DMP as its representative, the Department of Domestic Trade, and CP All Lao Co., Ltd. This collaboration will bring many significant benefits, such as improving production efficiency, developing product quality, expanding markets, and much more for local products in Laos. This collaboration is also a mutually beneficial partnership, creating opportunities for local businesses to learn and access techniques for product quality development, as well as advanced production systems, to improve quality, build competitiveness, and expand markets for their products.
As while Mr. Santisouk Phounsavath, Director of Department of Internal Trade, stated that government support through this cooperation project will help entrepreneurs gain skills and understanding in product development, especially the commitment to developing product quality to international standards and promoting market expansion. This cooperation with the business sector will be an important bridge connecting Lao products to both domestic and international markets. Furthermore, the cooperation between the government and the business sector also fosters understanding and encourages each party to implement the policies of the Party and the state in the same direction more efficiently and effectively.
Currently, In Laos has 7-Eleven convenience stores for 19 branches operating in Vientiane Prefecture, Vientiane, Luang Prabang, Savannakhet, Champasak, and Khammouane provinces. All branches have dedicated areas for selling quality Lao products, clearly promoting Lao goods, especially to tourists visiting Laos, in order to foster the country’s sustainable economic growth.
